Find a Bursary

Skills training can be transformational. A bursary can help you pay for training that will help you take the training you want. We have two bursaries available each year. Past recipients have started their post-secondary education, taken a wide range of college courses, and found the path to success. We want to help you do the same.

Apply for a Bursary

Both of our bursaries provide up to $1,000 to help you get the training you want. And you can apply online right here.

Stepping Out Bursary

This bursary is Closed.

Through the Women Creating Change project, the Skills Centre in collaboration with Trail FAIR Society, identified access to education and training as a critical component to improving economic security for women in our community.

Working with various community partners, the Women Creating Change project team established the Stepping Out Bursary to provide women living at or below the living wage an opportunity to improve or increase their education levels and contribute to increased financial independence.

Youth in Community Bursary

This bursary is Closed.

To celebrate our first 20 years, in 2017 the Board of the Skills Centre allocated $20,000 to a Youth in Community Bursary. Each year for ten years, we offer two $1,000 bursaries: one each for a youth graduating from JL Crowe Secondary School and from the Kootenay Columbia Learning Centre in Trail, BC. The bursaries are for youth whose family is living at or below the living wage threshold (household income of less than $78,000).

Applications open February 1st each year with recipients announced before graduation in June. This year’s application deadline is May 15.
